Laura is a woman inspired by the words of Isaiah 61:1,“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.”
And she is excited to take part in God’s mission of setting the captives free! Of course, Laura believes that only Jesus has the power to save others, yet she feels powerfully invited into his glorious and challenging mission of journeying alongside others where they are at. She doesn’t take this lightly. She follows her calling with great care as a fellow human being who has also struggled.
Laura finds the strength to continue on this journey in the courage, determination, and hope she finds in young people fighting for light in their lives. For Laura, it is empowering to help others feel empowered which makes her such a great fit for YU!
After working with YU on the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver with youth living on the street, Laura now works with Lifeteams, which creates a safe space for young adults to fail, grow in their gifts, and ‘thrive forward’. Even after years of work, Laura is still determined to stand with the helpless and bring hope and light to her world!
Together we can transform the world our youth live in—but we can’t do it without you.
