Why Courage Corner is Sleeping Outside

Every Friday our little crew of courageous youth join us on an adventure. We adventure to the ocean, up to the mountains, to the forest, and around the dinner table. On Fridays it’s not about where we go, but about the space we hold as we meet together. For some youth, our time together on Fridays is the most consistent, stable, and safe space they encounter in their week. They know this is a space they are always welcomed, always seen, invited to be known, and deeply cherished. As we gather together, we courageously hold hope for one another amidst the heavy stories.

We’re sleeping outside for one night, so homeless and vulnerable youth, including each one we meet with on Fridays, can have a lifetime of safety and support. So many of the youth that YU works with have high-risk factors for homelessness, addiction, gang recruitment, sexual exploitation and extreme poverty. However, we know that early intervention is life-changing. Youth Unlimited’s loving and practical support can massively decrease those risks and help change the trajectory of a youth’s life.
